Radio Actuality Story Pitches
1. EGYPT: Describe the current situation in one of the most newsworthy areas of the world, and ask whether my interviewees feel optimistic or pessimistic about its future.
2. CHARLIE SHEEN: This interesting entertainment story has been getting a lot of news attention. I would cover his threatened lawsuit against CBS over the cancellation of Two and a Half Men, and ask for a few different opinions about the matter.
3. CRUFTS: This is the topic I had already done for today; I explained the controversy surrounding the world’s second major dog show event of the year, why the BBC has not been supporting the prestigious Crufts as of 2009, and why a lot of people feel that, essentially, the many are being made to pay for the sins of the few. I presented as many of the multiple key points of view on the issues as possible in a short space of time, including two individual dog owners’ perspectives, which I recorded.
4. ELECTRIC VW BUS: It would be interesting to record the available information about the newly unveiled prototype of an "updated Volkswagen Microbus/van" at Geneva, and then share some people's reactions to and thoughts regarding the potential future of this latest technological showcase of enviro-friendliness, and attempted modernization of a classic icon of a vehicle.
